Hold Out Open Hands to God

Worry is frequently about not having something we long for or losing something we cherish. Ironically though, if we obsess too much about what we want or cling too tightly to what we love we end up with more worry and less peace.

The Bible is clear that we are to be grateful for what we have and remember that ultimately everything belongs to God.  Jesus also warns us not to idolize what we have, even good things from God. As a parent, for example, it is easy to become so wrapped up into our kids that we end up not trusting them ultimately to Gods care. This is hard not to do but the more we can submit our control and ownership over to God, the more peace, contentment and joy there is to experience.

Imagine holding out open hands to God. You can also physically do this to put you in a posture to receive and appreciate all God puts into your life, even if it is just for a short time. Hold out open hands to God and enjoy His blessings for you on this “Not Gonna Worry” Wednesday.

Better one handful with tranquillity
    than two handfuls with toil
    and chasing after the wind.
Ecclesiastes 4:6
