Rephrase Your Anxious Language

If we said our worries out loud they would probably be littered with words such as never, always, must, etc. This is absolute  and extreme language that is usually based on emotion instead of reality or facts. It takes us into a world of doom instead of a healthy place of possibility.

Analyze the language of your worries. Write your worries out if you have to. Then, replace the absolutes and exaggerations with more appropriate words. For instance, you could replace, “My situation is never going to get better” with, “My situation can and probably will get better.” Also, be sure to check it against what the Bible says. If it is contrary to God’s promises then revise or counter your worry to what God would say about it.

Rephrase your anxious language on this “Not Gonna Worry” Wednesday.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.  2 Corinthians 10:5
