Put on the Breastplate of Righteousness

Worry can be more than just our own mental battle. It can also be a spiritual battle. The armor of God is used in the Bible as a metaphor to show us how we can protect ourselves from these spiritual attacks. The second piece of armor listed is the breastplate of righteousness. This spiritual reference is to the righteousness purchased for us by Jesus at the cross. It is specially designed by God to protect our heart and soul from evil and deception such as the chaos that occurs when our minds stew with worry. Our own righteous acts are not enough to stand up to these attacks but the breastplate of righteousness has Christ’s name stamped on it, as though He said, “Your righteousness isn’t sufficient to protect you so wear mine.” Put on the spiritual breastplate of righteousness to protect yourself against worry on this “Not Gonna Worry” Wednesday.
