Crush a Critical Spirit

There are times when evaluation and critical thinking are appropriate and helpful. But if we adopt this way of looking at others or at our life situations, it can do much more damage than good. Criticism focuses on the negative. When we are critically searching for what is wrong we are giving ourselves more to worry about.

Readjust your outlook to focus on the positive aspects of your circumstances instead. Search for the good in people, looking for ways to encourage and build them up. Look for opportunities in your difficulties to help or develop patience or mercy instead of criticizing people or life situations.

Finally, remember that God does not look at you in search of the negative. He sees the good and hope in you and your plan in life. Crush a critical spirit on this “Not Gonna Worry” Wednesday.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.  Ephesians 4:29
