It is false to believe we can protect our hearts by anticipating disappointments before they happen. Yet, we get tricked into thinking this and the result is needless worry and discontent. What is ironic is that the anticipation of disappointment is often worse than the disappointment itself.
Try to redirect your thinking by expecting success in the form of courage, endurance, resilience etc. when you go through future trials. It is impossible to have a life without disappointments, but it is very possible and encouraging to believe in a God who will give you whatever you need to face those challenges. He will not only help you get through them, but grow you stronger and better as a result, if you let Him.
Anticipate success instead of disappointment on this “Not Gonna Worry” Wednesday.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4
